Circumcision for Babies and Adults

Circumcision is a surgical operation that removes the foreskin, which is the skin that surrounds the end of the penis. People may choose to have circumcision for different reasons, such as religious, cultural, medical, or personal ones. Here are some facts about circumcision for babies and adults:

  • Circumcision for baby: Circumcision for baby is usually performed in the first few days or weeks after birth. A doctor or a qualified professional does the operation using local or general anesthesia. The benefits of circumcision for a baby may include a lower chance of urinary tract infections, penile cancer, and sexually transmitted infections. The risks of circumcision for a baby may include bleeding, infection, pain, and problems with the healing process. Parents should balance the benefits and risks of circumcision for babies and make a wise decision based on their values and beliefs.
  • Circumcision for adults: Circumcision for adults is an optional operation that can be done for medical or aesthetic reasons. A urologist or surgeon operates using local or general anesthesia. The benefits of circumcision for adults may include better hygiene, lower risk of phimosis, balanitis, and some sexually transmitted infections. The risks of circumcision for adults may include bleeding, infection, pain, and reduced sensitivity. Adults should weigh the pros and cons of circumcision and make a personal decision based on their health and preferences.
